Mill Gate Cares
Mill Gate Shopping Centre is launching a charity foundation that aims to support fundraising for local not-for-profit organisations.
Last year the centre, which attracts more than 1,000,000 shoppers each month, helped raise thousands of pounds for local groups by giving free space on the mall for fundraising activities. Now the centre is hoping that by raising awareness of its desire to work with charities, more groups will get in touch.
Pete Barber, Centre Manager, explained: "We already have excellent relationships with some great local charities and have seen first-hand the benefits they get from being on the mall - both financially and in awareness." Pete adds: "However, we are aware that there are some other groups out there who we don't work with and we want to hear from them, especially if they have a particular campaign or event they are keen to promote over the coming 12 months."
As an integral part of the town centre, Mill Gate Shopping Centre can really support the community - and this is one way to help. We have allocated £10,000 worth of free mall space for 2011 and set a target to help raise £50,000 for local causes during the coming year.

If you run a charity or work for a not-for-profit organisation - that could be a school or any community action group - and you've got a great fund raising campaign running in 2011, we'd like to hear from you.
Contact us with the following information:
- FULL NAME
- POSITION
- CHARITY/ORGANISATION
- CONTACT NUMBER (DAYTIME)
- FUND RAISING CAMPAIGN (please tell us the campaign you are running this year)
WHY WE SHOULD HELP: as much as we'd like to, we can't promise to help everyone. The submissions will be reviewed by our judging panel including a member of the Centre's management team and at least one retailer for consideration. The best submissions will be those that really understand the benefit of using our shopping centre as a platform for fund raising and awareness.
- Is the idea engaging?
- Does it appeal to our shoppers?
- Does it provide a service for our shoppers?
- Does it add value to the shopping experience?
- Does it include a charge?
- If so, how much and for what?
- How will the activity be staffed by your organisation?
- When would you propose to run the activity?
- If that date/time is not available, do you have a second preference?
- What promotional activity will you be undertaking other than working with us?
Once received, a member of our team will be in touch to check through your details. Thank you.

millgatebury: Oh, now THIS is what we call a creative Valentine's Day gift - http://t.co/pRinWceF
Ladies, we are in luck! Pippa Middleton, arguably Britain’s most eligible woman has given us all some top tips for Valentine’s Day. Pippa edits the Party Times Magazine and the latest edition includes some tips to spice up your Valentine’s Day. So, what’s our favourite famous sister got to say this year? The magazine recommends homemade Valentine’s Cards for loved ones, as well as sweet treats and goodies such as heart-shaped cookies, for the object of your affection. Another suggestion is to throw a Valentine’s-themed party for not just lovers, but friends too, using tea lights, heart-shaped sparkers and pink and red flowers to decorate your humble abode – we absolutely love this idea! Why not celebrate the day with everyone you love. “Hang some heart decorations around the room for extra kitsch-factor and drink sparkling wine or specially mixed Valentine’s cocktails from hot pink glasses,” the writer of the guide adds. Whether it’s a gorgeous new party dress to woe the one you love, or some gushing heart shaped decorations for your home or to decorate a card, we’ve got everything you need this year to make it a Valentine’s Day to remember!
